She is a Digital Associate Photo Editor at National Geographic in Washington, D.C.. As a digital photo editor, she works on multi-platform storytelling, exploring how stories are best served on various platforms on the web, social media platforms and in National Geographic Magazine.
Benedict graduated from the Journalism School at the University of Missouri where she studied photojournalism, anthropology and political science. She is also Managing Director of Women Photograph and previously served as Secretary for Women Photojournalists of Washington. Before coming to National Geographic, she worked as a photo editor at National Public Radio and as a studio assistant for documentary photographer Lauren Greenfield. She has also helped support the College Photographer of the Year (CPOY) competition, Photographer of the Year International (POYi) and Photographer of the Year Latin America (POYLatam) and co-curated multiple exhibits at Photoville NYC for National Geographic and Women Photograph.
